Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors in Frisco

Smoke detectors are your first line of defense in the event of a fire. These devices continuously monitor the air for signs of smoke, triggering a loud alarm to alert occupants to potential danger. In a fire emergency, every second counts, and smoke detectors provide crucial early warning, giving you and your loved ones precious time to escape to safety.

Installing smoke detectors is necessary for every home and business, both for safety and compliance with numerous fire codes. That’s where Benchmark Electrical Services steps in, offering professional smoke detector installation and electrical services to residents of Frisco and beyond. Local Leaders in Smoke Detector Services

When it comes to the safety of your property, properly functioning smoke detectors are very important. While some may opt for a do-it-yourself approach, the reality is that professional installation is safer and more effective. When smoke detectors are not installed correctly, they may fail to provide early warning in the event of a fire or carbon monoxide leak, putting lives and property at risk.

Hard-wired smoke detectors are less likely to fail due to a bad battery, and that means longer lasting and more reliable protection. At Benchmark Electrical Services, we offer professional solutions to ensure your detectors are operating at optimal efficiency.

We have the following carbon monoxide and smoke detector services:

  • Carbon monoxide and smoke alarm replacement: If your detectors are experiencing issues such as false alarms, low battery warnings, or failure to sound during testing, our technicians can replace them promptly.
  • New installation: We install smoke detector units in the correct location, as well as wiring needed to keep them powered if necessary.

Call us today for a comprehensive evaluation of your smoke and carbon monoxide detector needs. Whether you require detector replacements, or some new units installed, our team is here to provide prompt and reliable service.

How Smoke Detectors Work

Smoke detectors operate on one of two principles: ionization or photoelectric sensing.

  • Ionization smoke detectors contain a small amount of Americium, a radioactive material that ionizes the air between two electrically charged plates. When smoke enters the chamber, it disrupts the ion flow between these two plates, triggering the alarm.
  • Photoelectric smoke detectors use a beam of light to detect smoke particles. When smoke enters the chamber, it scatters the light, triggering the alarm.

If you are worried about ionizing smoke detectors potentially causing problems due to radiation, don’t be. The Americium used in these applications is properly shielded to mitigate any effects. However, this is why you should never tamper with or damage your smoke detectors, as this could damage this shielding.
